Shreveport, LA quilt guild: Red River Quilters will hold their annual quilt show for art lovers, admirers of quilts and quilting arts. We are sponsored by the Red River Revel and our show includes a merchant mall, 200+ member entries of a variety of quilts, quilted items and garments. A judge with national certification provides written feedback to members to assist them with future quilting projects. There are ribbons placed to honor the outstanding quilts and quilted items, and the public gets to vote on their favorite quilt or quilted items. Our viewers enjoy a variety of quilts including hand-made(pieced and/or quilted),track machine quilted, and free hand long-arm quilted to finish. The demonstrations offered by vendors offer techniques to complete many different projects, often on display in the booths. Fabric, books, patterns, tools, embellishments, and much more are offered all three days. This year, Lisa Erlandson will judge out quilt show before she sets up an appraisal nook on site. A visitor can bring in their own quilted items in for a professional appraisal, with an appointment or as a walk-in. See our wesite for a link to more information about appraisals (www.redriverquilters.com). Our featured quilt artisan, Bobbie Deeter, will have a large grouping of quilts displayed for viewers to feast their eyes. Another quilt featured is our annual donation quilt. Visitors and members can purchase tickets, for .00 each, during the show, and have their name in a drawing for a whole cloth quilt. The drawing will come at the close of the show. For those who want to purchase a quilt or quilted item, our silent quilt auction will feature a large number quilts of all sized. Our membership donates these items, including small quilts, table runners, miniature quilts, Christmas tree skirts, wall hangings and good sized quilts to be sold to the highest bidder. The bidding begins on Friday at 10:00 and ends around 3:30 pm on Sun. Oct. 3, 2010.
